Who needs to be tested in a DNA twin test?
Both twins need to provide a sample to determine twin zygosity.
What types of samples are required?
Cheek swabs (or buccal swabs) are the most widely used samples. The cells collected on a cheek swab are called buccal cells. These are easy and painless to collect from the inner cheek lining of the mouth, using soft cotton-tipped applicators.
Can the samples be collected at home?
Yes, the samples can be collected at home using Orchid Cellmark’s specimen collection kit. However results generated from such samples may not be used in legal matters.
