Government Requirements

A DNA immigration test is conducted at the request of either the Canadian Embassy abroad or a local Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) office in all cases.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada has a policy on the procedures which are required to test a biological relationship between a Sponsor and Applicant. These procedures pertain to who is tested, how the individuals are identified at the time of sample collection, the chain of custody of the samples, the standards of DNA testing, and the transmission of the results. Orchid Cellmark follows these requirements carefully to ensure that the results are accepted by Citizenship and Immigration in all cases.

One of the additional requirements of Citizenship and Immigration Canada is that testing is to be completed by a DNA laboratory which is accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). Orchid Cellmark is accredited with the SCC and has numerous other third party accreditations.
